In sociology, not one person but more than one person is studied socially who interact with each other.

Sociology puts before us the real facts of society and evaluates social events.

Let us understand sociology in the following context:

  1. The Oxford English Dictionary has tried to summarize and explain the meaning of the word sociology, according to which "Sociology is the study of the history and nature of human society."
  2. Sociology is a combination of two words, the Latin word "Societas" which means "society" and the Greek word "logos" which means science or logic. Thus, these words mean "the science of society." From the above meanings, we know that sociology is the scientific study of human society.

First, we will get acquainted with the true meaning of society, there are two main forms of society:-

1. General Form of Society

2. Particular Form of Society

From the above form it is known that there is a general or common form of society and the other is a special form of society.

In the first form "general form of society", 'society' does not mean a group of individuals but the social relations found among them, which is actually a web of relations in society.

Social relations in society are not haphazard but a complete system is found in them. These relations are abstract, due to their abstraction, they become a more vast and complex process.

Talking about the second form "special form of society", then this society is bound by special rituals, customs and intimate relations. It is of a different culture from other societies in a particular place. Their geographical area is distinct from that of other societies and is in a specific area.

Society is a big and vast concept. The formation or creation of society does not happen only by the conscious gathering of individuals but by the social relations that arise among the human beings living in the society. Thus, we can say that society is the complex system of social relations and sociology studies these social relations.

Based on the above text, we will now talk about the following main concepts of sociology and move forward by understanding their definitions.
